The short answer
Take your decoders and smartcards, but plan to rebuild the cabling at the new home, because each decoder needs its own cable from the LNB. Keep every smartcard in its own decoder, power the primary decoder on first, update your address with DStv, and have an installer test every room.
Cables in your old walls don’t move with you. At the new home, every Extra View decoder needs its own cable from the LNB, and the route needs planning. Read adding Extra View without drilling if you rent or the walls are finished. A new LNB may also be needed. See what a Smart LNB is.
Power the primary decoder on first and let it settle. Then power on the secondary decoders. If a secondary decoder shows E143-4, the link isn’t established. See error E143-4 and our Extra View error guide.
Update your address with DStv through its official channels. Confirm the steps with DStv, because the process can change. See how to move DStv to a new address.
Moving a decoder to another room needs a cable run to that room, not just a longer power lead. Ask an installer to check the route and the signal before you rearrange the furniture.
Not usually. Each decoder needs a signal path from the LNB, which means cabling and often a new dish or LNB.
They may need re-linking. Power the primary on first and check for errors.
Often a new or checked LNB is part of the job. See what a Smart LNB is.
