The short answer
Keep your decoder and smartcard, update your address with DStv, and book an accredited installer to set up the dish and cabling at the new home. Have your account details ready and confirm the current steps with DStv, because processes change. Book the installer as soon as you have your moving date.
Update your address through DStv’s official channels, such as its website, app or call centre. Ask DStv whether to update before or after you move, because the right timing can depend on your account.
| Situation | Usually best |
|---|---|
| Dish and bracket are in good condition and belong to you | Take them and have them reinstalled |
| Dish is rusty, cracked or has a loose bracket | Replace them |
| You rent, or the dish is part of a sale | Check your lease or sale agreement first |
| You are moving into a complex or estate | Check the rules before anything goes on the roof or wall |
Our DStv relocation service covers removal and reinstallation. If you are comparing options, see how to choose an installer.
Book as soon as you have a moving date, so you have a choice of time slots. Tell the installer your address, your decoder types, the roof type and any access details. Our guide to scheduling an installation covers the whole process.
We do DStv relocations across Gauteng, including Sandton, Centurion, Midrand, Pretoria East and Randburg. We also offer emergency call-outs 7 days a week.
Usually you keep your existing decoder and smartcard. Confirm with DStv for your account.
Ask an installer to check it. A dish left by the previous owner may be misaligned, damaged or the wrong type for your decoder.
